Web 2.0 - Lime

The other site I am investigating is called Lime – Healthy Living With a Twist.

This site has ideas for a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. It includes food (recipes), health (beauty, pregnancy), balance (yoga, self improvement, and a meditation room), fitness, planet, business (money, technology) and people. These are the main aspects of a happier, more successful lifestyle. You can also access their T.V. station, radio, mobile, podcasts, community, local, and a shop. In the shop, you can purchase a wide variety of products, including books, DVD’s, Lime merchandise, adult and baby clothing, and the list goes on. If you would like, you can enter your e-mail address to subscribe to a free daily newsletter, and take numerous polls.

You don’t have to be a member, but if you want to “inspire and get inspirations from others” then it is recommended that you join the Lime Community. The people who would use this site are people who either want to change their lifestyle, or they want to change it for the better.

It promotes the idea of communication by the company sharing countless articles. Also, there are many video’s, podcasts, and radio talk shows which are made by Lime that they share with the Lime users.

This company/website could solve many problems in the world. From obesity, to just making a healthier way of life. It also will make a greener, healthier environment if people would just put their mind to it. In this moment in time, there is a multitude of problems arising that have to do with the environment, including global warming. On this website, you learn how to save the environment, and in the long run, the earth. They are a member of “1% for the planet”, which means Lime contributes 1% of their annual profits to environmental organizations worldwide.

There are no problems this website could create as it is all about life and the environment, and how to improve them. It only has positive aspects, and could be a great help if people began to take these types of things seriously.

There are several features of this website I like, including not having to sign up to be a member to access it. There are also so many options you can explore, and unlimited ways you can change your life for the better. Also, the advertisements that are situated on the website have relevance to healthy living

Web 2.0 - PassPack

The name of one of the sites I am investigating is PassPack.

This handy website helps you store all your different passwords in a safe account on the internet.

Passwords can be easily reached by hackers if just saved on your computer, and if you use the same password for all the websites you access on a regular basis then the hacker, spyware, etc. has hit the jackpot. PassPack is a very easy website to navigate and sign up for. You also do not need to enter your e-mail address, which makes your passwords even safer, and you also will not have to worry about your e-mail address being given to other websites who will send you junk-mail. All you have to do is enter a user-name, password, and packing key, and you are ready to go. When you want to save a password, all you have to do is click add new entry, and enter the following fields: Title, User Id, Password, Notes, and Link, and you are good to go.

Almost anybody could use this site, as everybody has at least one password to remember, for example the Internet, your e-mail, networking sites, message boards, and the list goes on.

This site promotes the use of communication, as if you forget your passwords, you may not be able to access the tools you need to communicate with friends, family, or people around the world.

The problems it would solve is not forgetting the many passwords people use to access various websites on the internet.

I don’t believe this website creates any problems, as it only has positive aspects. You don’t have to enter your e-mail address or any personal information so there is no way anybody could track who you are.

I like this website as it is very useful to store your passwords and information, instead of physically writing it on a piece of paper, and having the chance of loosing it. The only problem is… what if you forget your PassPack password?

Communication

Communication

To communicate is to exchange information, always between 2 or more people or people or groups.  There are many resources you can use to communicate, some of which include: speech, sign language, the computer, and the telephone/cell phones.  Another communication device is a television.  When you are watching the news, the broadcasters are communicating information, although not directly to you.  This type of communication can be considered one person, or 2, due to the fact that the listener is not communicating back, but information is being exchanged from one person to another, anywhere in the world.

In our world today, the opportunities to communicate are endless.  When you’re supposed to doing homework, you can be instant messaging one of your friends.  When you are having a family dinner, you can be text messaging some one under the table.  These are just a few pieces of technology that we can use to communicate with somebody half way around the world, with only a touch of a button.

There are many positive and negative aspects of the devices that are available to communicate at this point in time.  Now a days, using the technology that is available, makes it so much easier to keep up with friends who live far away, and that you don’t get to see that often.  You can also meet new friends on the internet, although this is not always the safe and secure method to use.  The internet has endless possibilities.  At this point in time, the most popular uses of communication on the computer are Msn Messenger, e-mail, and Myspace, for example.  Many people don’t believe in peer networking places like Myspace, as it can be abused very easily.  It is definitely an easy way to meet new friends, and keep up with your old ones, but sometimes people you meet on this website aren’t who you think they are.  There have been many cases of girls, who have met guys on this website, whom they feel they are attracted to.  In some cases, there have been horrible things that have happened to these girls.  This is definitely a negative aspect of communication on the internet.

I believe communication is the most useful tool we have.  If we did not have communication, we would not

be able to interact with other people.  We would be living in a very boring world if this was so.
